Calcined Alumina

Is made by firing a source alumina at various temperatures, depending upon desired level of calcination ( burn), into alpha alumina varying from 5-100 % moving it to its densest and most stable form. The calcined alumina particles appear as crystalline agglomerates which are larger when the degree of calcination is higher.
Calcined alumina is generally used in the manufacture of refractories, glass, ceramics and enamel etc

Key Features

High Purity: Calcined alumina is typically characterized by its high purity levels, which make it ideal for a variety of industrial applications, including ceramics and refractories.

High Melting Point: With a melting point of around 2,050°C, calcined alumina is highly resistant to heat, making it suitable for high-temperature applications.

Hardness: Calcined alumina has a high hardness level (9 on the Mohs scale), making it an excellent abrasive material for cutting, grinding, and polishing operations.

Chemical Inertness: It is chemically inert, meaning it resists reactions with most chemicals, which enhances its durability and lifespan in various industrial processes.

Thermal Stability: Calcined alumina remains stable at high temperatures, making it perfect for use in refractory products that need to withstand extreme heat without breaking down.

These properties make calcined alumina versatile for use in ceramics, refractories, abrasives, and other high-performance applications
